Pay it Forward!

I entered KatySue's Pay it Forward, so I'm doing it here too. Why? Because it's part of the rules. :)

Here is how Pay it Forward works:

The first FIVE people who comment {open to those living in the USA} will receive something in the mail from me. Either some vintage lace, a bit of velvet ribbon, or something handmade by me. I'll poke around and find something lovely to give to you! :)

They in turn, must commit to doing the same on their blog.

Also, please include your email address. So I can contact you.

I'll fill in the spots as they are taken.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

You may notice that I have given Bramblewood Fashion a whole new look. I did this because we switched our internet connection, and I noticed that the blog started loading slowly. So, I thought that it must be running slow for some of you too, and decided to speed it up. Do you like it? {If you don't to be apart of Pay it Forward just leave a note in your comment.} My favorite parts are the background {polka-dots!!!} and the header. Eventually I want to redo all the tags {to the posts} to something more simple.

Hello everyone! Today is Christmas Adam. Get it? Christmas Adam comes the day before Christmas Eve. You know, Adam & Eve. lol. :) Well, besides being Christmas Adam today it is a Thursday, meaning it's time for I ♥ Thursday.

I love Basil Rathbone reading aloud the book, Sherlock Holmes. You know what, I could listen to him read all day. :)

(edited: I found where this is sold!!! Click here.) (:

This outfit from Casablanca that Ingrid Bergman wears. (I saw this costume when I was in L.A. this summer. It is so pretty! The blouse is a rusty paisley print with a black skirt.)

The radio & 50s TV Show Dragnet

This beautiful dress that Judy Garland wears in Girl Crazy.

The old Disney movie, 101 Dalmatians

30 Day Challenge - Day 9

Day 23: {A way in which you want to be remembered.}

I want to be remembered for the following. My love for my family. Being a faithful daughter. One who wants to help others in dressing modestly. My love of sewing, reading, and history.

Day 24: {A movie no one would expect you to love.}

Gosh, I don't know.

I do enjoy a good mystery like the Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce

And I love a good World War Two movie. One of my favorites is Go for Broke! {1951}.

As is Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo! {1944} a favorite too.

Day 25: {A recipe.}

One of our favorite recipes around the holidays is Strawberry Pretzel Jello Salad. Yummy.

30 Day challenge - Day 5, 6, 7, and 8

Day 15: {A person you admire.}

General Robert Edward Lee. A man of honor and duty. When things went bad he didn't blame anyone, he took all the blame. Also before he made important decisions, he would pray and read his bible to find out God wanted him to do.

Day 16: {A song that makes you cry.}

Here's a secret. Songs, books, and movies they all don't make me cry. My sisters say I have no feelings. But I do. =) So there is no song that makes me cry.

Day 17: {An art piece.}

I love this sculpture by Edgar Degas!

Day 18: {A time when you felt passionate and alive.}

Ha! I still do! =)

Day 19: {A talent of yours.}

I have an engineering mind, so I can figure out just about anything I want by myself.

Day 20: {A hobby of yours.}

My biggest hobbies are: sewing, reading, history, and anything crafty.

Day 21: {Something you know you do differently than most people.}

Before I was gluten-free I would have this delicious combination from Panera Bread. I loved having Black Bean soup and a cinnamon crunch bagel toasted with butter. But this the strange part, I would dip my bagel in my soup. Yum! Or, I would dip the same kind of bagel in the frozen Amy's mac-and-cheese. Yummy!

Day 22: {A website.}

My favorite website besides blogger would have to be one of the following:

http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/
http://amandabethonline.blogspot.com/
http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/
http://sensibility.com/
http://periodmovies.blogspot.com/

30 Day Challenge - Day 4

Day 12: {A song that you want played at your wedding(or was played).}

Um, let me think here. Probably As Times Goes By - Casablanca Soundtrack and Always - Deanna Durbin. As these are two of my favorite love songs.

Day 13: {A guilty pleasure.}

Drinking chai tea while either sewing, or blogging.

Day 14: {A vacation you would like to take.}

I would love to take a trip to the following places. =)

 All over Italy

Paris, France

Go back to London, UK

The English Countryside

Scotland

Ireland

Germany

Netherlands

Norway

You get the idea. Pretty much all over Europe. =)

30 Day Challenge - Day 3

Day 8: {A thank you letter to someone who has changed your life. Favorite City for Food}

I decided to change today's challenge to, favorite city for food. =) Before I was gluten-free my favorite city for food was/is Boston, MA. There is this part of Boston called, Little Italy and they have the most awesome food down there!  Like when I was there in 2008, we went to this little diner in Little Italy and they had the best cheese pizza I ever had. And get this, I don't normally like cheese pizza. I'm more a pepperoni, or onions and sausage girl. Yummy!  But wait, there is one more yummy place to go to. Like Mike's Pastry! THE best bakery ever! I have had a canola, cookies, Oreo cake (I get this at least once every time I visit Boston), eclair, whoopie pie, and homemade ice-cream. They are all simply scrumptious. You must check it out when ever you are in Boston.  ;-)

Day 9: {A photo you took.}

 Piccadilly Circus, London, UK (2009)

Day 10: {A photo of you taken over ten years ago.}

This picture is way over ten years ago. More like, sixteen years ago. =) This is a picture of me and Gabrielle back in '94, I think.

Day 11: {A photo of you taken recently.}

{Last week}

30 Day Challenge - Day 2

 Day 5 {Favorite quote}

"God's will ought to be our aim, and I am quite contented that His designs should be accomplished and not mine." ~ Gen. Robert Edward Lee

Day 6: {A moment you wish you could relive.}

My favorite conferences would be fun to relive. =) Which are the Jamestown 400, Reformation 500, and the Sufficiency of Scripture.  Oh, and of course my trip to London with Mrs. Chancey's first Historical Costume Tour Group. That was so much fun going to London and meeting a bunch of great girls! Hi girls! =)

Day 7: {Five things you couldn't possible live without.}
  1. Jesus Christ
  2. My Family
  3. The Bible
  4. Sewing Machine
  5. Books

    30 Day Challenge - Day 1

    I am doing this 30 day challenge with a bunch of other blogger girls. But, I will be doing mine in less time, like in eleven days instead of 30. Why, you may ask? Because I will be going on vacation in twelve days. =) So I will be doing several challenges in one day. =)

    Day 1 {Favorite Song}

    This first challenge is very hard, as I love music!

    But I will go with I've Seen Hell - Martin Phipps. It is from the movie, North & South (2004) with Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe which by the way, is one of my favorite movies. =)

    Day 2 {Favorite Movie}

    AHH!! What a question for me! Um, let's see here. I will instead list five of my favorite movies in no order, instead of telling you just one. =)

    1. The Sound of Music (1965)
    See trailer here.

    2. Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939)

    3. Emma (2009) BBC

    4. Ben-Hur (1959)

    5. Fireproof (2008)

    Day 3 {Favorite Book}

    My favorite book would have to be, The Call of Duty: The Stirling Nobility of Robert E. Lee by Steven Wilkins. A wonderful book on the character and life on one of my many hero's.

    Day 4 {Favorite Television Program}

    It would have to be between the following.

    1. The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-66)

    2. The Rifleman (1958-63)

    3. Daniel Boone (1964-70)

    If you all like, you can list your favorites in a comment below, or do your own post on your blog.  =)

    What I have been up to....

    Let me say, I have been sewing. Just some of my projects have been for my family lately, siblings mostly, and they don't want their pictures up here. =)

    But, I will share one of my current sewing projects. It is a 1950s pajama Capri set. Using "Ava Rose" fabric that I bought in Marie-Madeline's latest bundle sale. Plus some brown vintage rick-rack (it is made out of cotton!), pink vintage/retro buttons, and a vintage Butterick pattern. You have the recipe for one cute pair of pajamas! =)

    I'm making view C, the one in the back. My Capri's are made out of the stripe fabric. While the hem binding and strings that lace up the sides are made out of the rose fabric you see above, but in a darker shade of pink. The top will be made out the rose fabric you see above and trimmed with vintage rick-rack.

    I am also working on a headband tutorial for this week, which will be featured on another blog! So exciting! I will let you all know when that is up. =)

    Um, lets see here. Oh, this week I was to make something from the 1930s, you know for that sewing challenge, but I couldn't find the perfect inspiration. Oh well, this week is the 1940s and I'm going to have a hard time narrowing down my favorites I would like to sew. ;-) And next week is the 1950s! My favorite era!

    I'm thinking on doing a post on some of my favorite Old Time Radio Shows, and where I find them on the internet to download, for free! Would any of you be interested in this?

    14 Things About Ashley

    1. What's your favorite time of the day, and why?
    Definitively night time. My whole life I have been a night owl. I have just always been more wide awake after 8:00PM. Whoo goes there? :-)

    2. If health wasn't an issue, what food could you live off of?

    Ice-Cream!!!! I love ice-cream, it is my favorite dessert/snack! Has been my whole life.

    3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be?

    To live in a house with history! With a attic full of treasures, and maybe a mystery for me to solve!

    4. What's one thing that you get teased about a lot?

    The new me. After I've become gluten-free in January, I have changed - for the better. I'm happier, hum/sing random Disney songs or movie themes, more sociable, can work harder, and think more clearly. Before, I was, let me say, more grumpy and not all that sociable. And my new self sometimes drives my siblings crazy!

    5. If you could choose one movie, book, or TV show to spend your life in, which would you pick? What type of character would you be?

    Um, this is a hard question. If I go by the clothes I would have to say The Dick Van Dyke show. I just love Laura's clothes! I don't know why, but I have come to really love the early 60s for clothing. In fact, a good many of the patterns I have bought lately are from that era. :P And I use to say I didn't like the 60s. Now I just say, "I love every era, for each one has something nice. Yes, even the 1920s, 70s, 80s, and 90s." :)

    6. If you could have one talent that you don't already have, what would it be?

    To be able to act, without laughing in front of a camera or crowd. :)

    7.If money were no object, where would you go on vacation?

    Europe is my dream. Has been for the last 6 or 7 years. Or has it been longer? Not sure.

    8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing?

    Folk or country.

    9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what would it be?

    That's a hard question as I love to shop! Maybe Amazon.com because they have everything! Clothes, music, movies, books! :)

    10. If you could live in any point in time, when would it be?

    Let me see. I think the 1860s during the War Between the States (American Civil War)in the South.

    11. If every outfit in your wardrobe had to be one color, what would it be?

    Pink (my new favorite color) or black.

    12. If you were one of the seven dwarves, which one would you be?(Doc, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Happy, or Dopey)

    Happy!

    13. What's the last album you listened to?

    Neverland by: Heather McCready. My new favorite artist! You must check her out! http://www.heathermccready.com/

    14. What's something we'd be surprised to know about you?

    My favorite computer game is...ready for it? Battlefield 1942.
