What I'm Wearing - The 60s Flip & Yellow Tights

- What I'm Wearing -

Jean Skirt - Made by Me
Cream Turtleneck - J.C.Penny
Black Pumps - Connie {Famous Footwear}
Yellow Tights - c/o We Love Colors
Brown Knee-High Socks - Kohl's
Pearl Earrings - Gift

Last night I curled my hair with pin curls {for the very first time!} and they turned out wonderful!!! I was feeling very 1960s this morning and decided to do the flip. =) I LOVED it! I felt very Laura Petrie all day. =)

I also tried something new today. Wearing tights with knee-high socks. It seams to be a trend for this winter, as I have seen several fashion bloggers doing this look. Another new thing....yellow tights. I'm slowly bringing color to my tights this winter. Or, rather quickly I suppose. lol.

Feelin' Feminine Challenge {Day Three}

- What I'm Wearing -

Vintage {1950s} Baby Blue Gingham Dress - The Way We Wore {a vintage clothing store in L.A. that celebrities shop at.}
Navy Blue Cardigan - Old Navy
Creamy Tan Belt - Christopher & Banks {years ago}
Grey Tights - J.C.Penny
Black Pumps - Connie {Famous Footwear}
Cream Flower Headband - Claire's
Pearl Earrings - Gift

Here is my outfit for Feelin' Feminine challenge hosted by Livvy at A Daughter's Heart. I'm wearing my only real vintage dress that I own today. I bought the dress while I was in Los Angeles last summer from a store called, The Way We Wore. They had so many really cute dresses that I wanted to buy from the fifties, that were my size {I have a hard time finding my size}!!! The only problem was their prices. I was only able to get this one because it was 60% off. Most of their clothes range from $60 - $1,000 {and higher}, it is not a cheap store. But the quality of their pieces are amazing and look brand new! So it's definitely worth the price, if you can get them on sale like I did. ;-)

Feminine Fashion Week {Day 7} - 1960s Inspired

-What I'm Wearing-

Brown Polka-dot Sun Dress - Made by me for my HS Graduation {seen here}
Brown Sweater - Kohl's {Hand-me-down from Gabrielle}
Pink Tights - J.C. Penny {$4.99}
Brown T-Strap Kitten Heels - Naturalizers {Don't remember it was several years ago.}
Pearl Earrings - Gift

I love this dress! The sad thing is, I had a hard time putting on my dress this morning. I'm so worried about tonight. What if I can't get it off?!? I think this means I've grown out of my dress. :( Hopefully this isn't so. As it is my favorite dress ever!! {I think.} As this dress is sleeveless I add the sweater for a more winter look. I think it brings the outfit a more 60s flair. And my hair was fixed into a relaxed {more modern} flip, aka. Mary Tyler Moore

Now my dear readers, I'm excited to announce that my 1960s hair tutorial is now up on Vimeo {YouTube has a 10 minute limit and the tutorial is 15 minutes long}.

Today is also the last day of Natasha's fashion week. How fast this week has flown! Thank you, Natasha for hosting this wonderful Feminine Fashion Week! :)

This is what I wore for the fourth day of Natasha's fashion week. The day was spent trying to figure out how to put in the sleeves of my 1780s dress. Feminine Fashion Week {Day 3} - Comfy Cozy

-What I'm Wearing-

Red T-shirt - Kohl's {$4}
Floral Skirt - Made by me {Free} (pattern review)
Black Leggings - Old Navy {$5}
Brown Belt - Maurices {$8}
Green Scarf - Target {$10}
Black Flats - Payless {$10}
Silver Dangle Earrings - Christmas Gift {I think they are from J.C. Penny (: }
Grey Fingerless Gloves - Christmas Gift {Made by my sister, Gabrielle. She didn't use any pattern.}
And once again the same 1960s hairstyle as yesterday. :)

Today was the first day of work in the new year. It also marks the first time I wore my skirt this winter.{I sewed the skirt last winter.} I tend to wear certain clothes the first half of cold weather {Oct-Dec}, from the second half {which is now, Jan-March or April}.  It helps me from getting tired of my clothes.

It's hard to believe that today is the third day of Natasha's Feminine Fashion Week. If you want to join in there is still time. :)

Also I'll be filming the 1960s hair tutorial sometime this week, hopefully tomorrow, or next week. :)

Feminine Fashion Week {Day 2} - Très Chic, No?

-What I'm Wearing-

Black & White Polka-dot Jacket - Kohl's {$13.80}
Cream Ruffle Tank - Gap Outlet {$8}
White Long Sleeve T-Shirt - J.C. Penny's {$6}
Jeans - J.C. Penny's {$17}
Black Flats - Payless {$10}
Black Flower Pin - Maurices {$3}
Pearl Earrings - Gift

Here it is, the second day of Natasha's fashion week. Today my inspiration was this polka-dot jacket and my 1960s hairstyle. Though, to me at least, my hair is screaming for a LBD (Little Black Dress) with a boat neckline (a.k.a Audrey Hepburn). Alas, I don't own one, or have any black fabric in my stash. I do have fabric to recreate the jumper below, that Audrey Hepburn wears in the movie Sabrina {1954}.

Oh, once I master this hairstyle I will do a tutorial for all of you. I just need raise the back more. As it doesn't look very 60s in the front. :) Here's more pictures of my hair.

Feminine Fashion Week {Day 1} - A Little Bit of Country

-What I'm Wearing-

Blue Plaid Shirt - Kohl's {$6}
Jeans - J.C. Penny's {$17}
Brown Boots - Target {$15 after gift card ;-)}
Military inspired Wool Coat - Target {$17}
Pink Tote Purse - Maurices {$11}
Pearl Earrings - Gift

As I was thinking on where I bought everything I realized something. Everything was bought for under $20 each. Thanks to great sales, clearance racks {I LOVE these!}, and a gift card.

This afternoon my Mom and I went shopping. At Kohl's I picked up a black & white polka-dot jacket/spring coat for $13 on the clearance racks. We also ran into the grocery store to pick up some things and I bought some supplies to fix our hair into vintage styles. Like a rattail comb, Bed Head Manipulator, and double prong clips.

Oh, and today is the first day of Natasha's Feminine Fashion Week. =)

What I'm Wearing - 1940s Swing Dress

- What I'm Wearing -

Navy Blue with White Polka-dots Swing Dress - Made by me {I used the Sense & Sensibility pattern}
Pink Cardigan - Old Navy
White Tights - JCPenny
Black Pumps - Famous Footwear
Vintage looking pearl Earrings - Claire's
Flower Hair Clip - My etsy shop (here is one like mine)

Last night on a whim I decided that I would curl my hair in a 40s style. Which is why we have a third "What I'm Wearing" post for this week. When I took my hair out of the curlers (the foam ones) I tried doing a Bettie Page bang, two victory rolls on the side, and my hair rolled up in the back. But that looked very 50s on me and the victory rolls didn't turn out so well. So I just brushed my hair out and clipped a flower on the side. Eventually I want to be able to do the victory rolls. Guess I'll have to keep practicing. :) For as you know, practice makes perfect.

As some of you know, tonight is campout/movie night at my house. This evening my two of my sisters and I are planning on watching some Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney films. Like Girl Crazy, Thoroughbreads Don't Cry, and/or Babes on Broadway.

If you haven't already, don't forget to enter our current giveaway

What I'm Wearing - "Baby, It's Cold Outside"

- What I'm Wearing -

Purple T-shirt - Kohl's
Floral Skirt - Made by me {Amy Butler pattern}
Purple Leggings - Old Navy
Black Snow Boots - Target
Statement Necklace - Bass Shoe Outlet
1950s Cream Flannel Coat - Made by me {B4928}
Pearl Earrings - Gift

Boy is it cold outside! My ears just about froze off while taking these pictures. It is normally not this cold, so soon. It is like 18 degrees outside. I have to come up with another plan for taking pictures during the winter. As I will freeze if I don't. :) It is also very hard to smile when the bitter cold air blows into your face. Which is why my face is cropped out in the above picture.

I have several post ideas that I hope to do in the coming weeks. Also I've filmed a video on how to draft an A-line skirt pattern. I just have to edit it before I can upload it on YouTube. :) Today I started working on a pair of 1940s empire waist trousers, but I'm running into a little fitting trouble. Hopefully, I can figure out how to fix the problem soon. :)
